Male Short Nose Rhinoplasty – 6-Month Postoperative Review

Before surgery, I had a short nose with an upturned appearance,
which made the center of my face look sunken
and gave me a flat, unremarkable impression.
After seeing how much a close acquaintance’s appearance improved
following rhinoplasty, I became interested in male rhinoplasty myself.
Through that acquaintance, I learned about RU Plastic Surgery

I also visited three to four other clinics through plastic surgery apps,
but the before-and-after results at RU Plastic Surgery
were the closest to the aesthetic I wanted.
More importantly, during the consultation,

The explanation focused not just on height,
but on overall facial balance, which left a strong impression.
Because my nose was structurally short with a retracted columella,
multiple clinics explained that proper nasal lengthening
would require autologous rib cartilage with sufficient strength and volume.
Although I had concerns about scarring,
I decided that long-term stability and function were more important.
The surgical plan at RU Plastic Surgery included
autologous rib cartilage for the nasal tip,
silicone for the nasal bridge,
columellar correction,
and short nose correction.
While the cost was higher than at other clinics,
the structured postoperative follow-up with direct evaluations by the surgeon
and the sense of long-term accountability gave me confidence.
The consultation manager also provided attentive care throughout the process.
Immediately after surgery, the pain was more significant than expected.
The rib harvest site was particularly uncomfortable,
and the nasal packing caused considerable congestion.
After discharge, I also experienced throat pain related to general anesthesia,
similar to severe discomfort when swallowing.
This lasted about three days and gradually improved,
remaining noticeable only during exertion.
Bruising was more prominent than expected
and persisted with yellow discoloration for about two weeks.
However, at each follow-up visit,
either Dr. Kim personally examined me
or reviewed my condition after nursing care,
so I felt well supported throughout recovery.
Now, at six months postoperatively,
nearly all swelling has resolved,
and my nose has settled into the natural straight profile
I envisioned during the initial consultation.
The nasal tip is refined without appearing overly sharp,
and the central portion of my face feels more defined and balanced.
The flat, indistinct impression I once had is gone.
As time has passed, the nose has blended naturally with my face,
and my satisfaction has continued to increase.
Looking back at six months post-surgery,
this is a case where satisfaction has grown with time,
and I genuinely feel that choosing surgery was the right decision.
