I decided on autologous rib rhinoplasty
to improve my short, rounded tip
and ongoing nasal symptoms.
I knew rhinoplasty can have higher risks
of revision, so I thought about it
for a long time before deciding.
As my nasal symptoms worsened
and my short nose kept bothering me,
I chose to proceed with surgery.
I looked for a clinic that could handle
functional nasal surgery
while achieving the shape I wanted.
During consultation,
Dr. Hyun Joo Kim carefully asked
if I had any questions,
and compared to other clinics,
RU Plastic Surgery felt the most right,
so I booked surgery right away.
I had functional nasal surgery (two procedures)
along with short nose correction,
bulbous tip correction,
columella lengthening,
and a customized 3D DCF (Innofit)
for the bridge.
For about 2 weeks after surgery,
I had nasal congestion and runny nose,
so breathing was difficult,
and my throat hurt from mouth breathing.
But with light walks morning and evening,
the swelling went down faster than expected.
At first, the swelling made it look
a bit overdone, which worried me,
but now at 2 weeks,
most of the swelling has gone down,
and I really like the tip shape.
I’m especially happy that even
in cold air, my nasal symptoms
no longer bother me.
