One-Month Review After Male Rhinoplasty for a Low Bridge and Bulbous Nose

I had always felt dissatisfied with my low nasal bridge
and bulbous nose.
However, I kept postponing surgery because it was easy
to come across videos discussing complications and risks.
My perspective changed after watching a rhinoplasty vlog
from a male YouTuber who had a nose shape similar to mine.
After his surgery, his overall image improved dramatically,
yet the result still looked very natural.
I sent him a DM on Instagram asking which clinic
and surgeon performed his procedure.
That is how I learned about Dr. Hyunjoo Kim
at RU Plastic Surgery.
Even after receiving the information, I hesitated for a long time
because I was still worried about complications
or unnatural results.
Eventually, I decided to consult and proceeded
with male rhinoplasty.
During the consultation, I explained the concerns
I had about my nasal bridge and bulbous tip,
and emphasized that a natural appearance
was the most important goal for me.
Dr. Kim recommended raising the nasal tip
using autologous rib cartilage while correcting the bulbous nose,
and augmenting the bridge with a silicone implant.
Since I had already seen many of his results,
I simply asked for a natural outcome
and trusted his judgment.
The first week after surgery was quite uncomfortable.
Because rib cartilage was harvested,
I felt soreness around the rib area.
I also had nasal packing, which meant breathing
through my mouth, and my throat felt very sore
for the first one to two days, likely from anesthesia.
Because of these factors, sleeping comfortably
during the early recovery period was difficult.
The nasal packing was removed on the second day,
but my nasal passages still felt congested
because the mucosa was sensitive.
Dr. Kim explained that the congestion would gradually improve.
After that, the rib discomfort, swelling,
and bruising slowly improved.
Now, at about three weeks post-op,
I am able to go about my daily life
with almost no discomfort.
There is still slight swelling at the nasal tip
and a faint yellow bruise around the nose,
but overall the recovery has been smooth.
When the splint was removed about a week after surgery
and I saw the shape of my nose clearly for the first time,
I was very satisfied with how natural
the bridge height and tip shape looked.
Although there is still some residual swelling,
the nose continues to settle day by day,
and I am increasingly satisfied with the result.
