Ten-Month Review After Contracted Nose Revision Rhinoplasty

I decided to undergo revision surgery because, over time,
my nose gradually appeared more upturned.
At first it was not very noticeable when I smiled,
so I did not realize how serious it was.
However, when I saw photos, the upturned appearance became more obvious,
and I began to worry that it might continue to worsen.
That concern ultimately led me to pursue contracted nose revision surgery.
My goal was to achieve a natural result without an obvious surgical look.
While researching contracted nose revision cases online,
I came across reviews of RU Plastic Surgery
and decided to consult with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim.
Initially, I did not expect that I would actually proceed with revision surgery,
but after hearing Dr. Kim’s explanation,
I felt that it would be better to address the issue sooner rather than later.
I scheduled surgery for about a month later
and underwent weekly stem cell treatments before the procedure
to help prepare and improve the condition of the nasal tissues.
For this revision, the surgical plan included
an autologous rib cartilage bridge using diced rib cartilage
wrapped with temporalis fascia,
autologous rib cartilage for the nasal tip,
correction of the contracted nose,
nasolabial angle adjustment,
and correction of pinched nose deformity.
The aspect I feared most was general anesthesia.
Fortunately, after waking up I did not experience nausea,
though my throat felt sore and irritated,
similar to having tonsillitis.
Overall recovery progressed faster than I expected.
Interestingly, the rib donor site was actually more painful
from the second day through about the fifth day
than it was immediately after surgery.
Because the surgery was performed entirely with autologous tissue,
the swelling and bruising lasted longer
than in typical rhinoplasty cases.
In the early stage, my bridge looked quite swollen,
almost like an “avatar nose,”
and the bruising at the nasal tip was noticeable.
However, as the major swelling subsided,
the appearance improved significantly.
Now, ten months later, most of the residual swelling has resolved,
and the nose looks very natural even from the front.
Around the six-month mark,
there was still some fullness at the nasal tip
that made me feel slightly concerned.
But as time passed, the swelling gradually decreased,
and the nasal line became softer and more refined.
This was my final revision surgery,
and I chose to trust Dr. Hyunjoo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery.
Looking back now, I have no regrets about the decision
and feel genuinely satisfied with the result.
