Contracted Nose Revision – 5th Attempt, Finally a Success
본문

After developing severe contracture following my first rhinoplasty,
I went through five surgeries.
Septum, silicone, AlloDerm, autologous rib, ear cartilage —
I tried almost everything, yet my nasal tip remained lifted,
the columella disappeared, nostrils were asymmetric,
the bridge was crooked, and the tip had collapsed.
At one point, I didn’t even want a high or dramatic nose anymore.
I just wanted to look normal again.
This time, my goal was reconstruction — not aesthetics.
While searching endlessly online,
I came across revision cases from RU Plastic Surgery.
What stood out was that the bridge and tip lines were customized
for each patient — not a “copy-and-paste” nose.
That mattered to me more than anything.
During consultation with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim,
he clearly explained what was possible, what was limited,
and even walked me through different scenarios.
Instead of vague reassurance,
he showed structural explanations and similar case data.
For the first time, I felt truly understood.
My surgical plan at RU Plastic Surgery included:
• Implant-free bridge (removal of AlloDerm)
• Nasal tip with autologous rib + rectus fascia overlay
• Short nose correction
• Septal reconstruction and reinforcement
• Nasolabial angle correction
• Pinched nose correction
It was a very complex case requiring detailed structural work.
Some hospitals had even declined my case.
Surprisingly, recovery was smoother than expected.
Even though this was my second rib harvest surgery,
rib pain disappeared after two days.
There was almost no bruising or major swelling.
For someone who always bruises severely,
that alone felt like a miracle.
The moment I saw my nose in the splint,
I knew — this time, it worked.
The tip looked stable and structurally strong.
The nasolabial angle correction and lowering of the nostrils
also created the illusion of a shorter philtrum,
which improved the overall balance of my face.
Even areas I didn’t specifically request
were adjusted harmoniously.
Beyond surgical skill, what impressed me most
was the consistency in follow-up care.
Every visit, I see Dr. Hyunjoo Kim directly.
No sudden changes, no shifting explanations.
For someone who developed anxiety after multiple failed surgeries,
that stability means everything.
Many people hesitate because they hear
that consultations and surgery costs are high.
But in my experience, it’s not “expensive” —
it’s appropriate for the level of expertise,
responsibility, and comprehensive care provided.
After years of physical and emotional distress,
I finally feel like I’ve regained both my face and my peace of mind.
