Two Weeks After Full Autologous Rib Rhinoplasty
본문

I had always been insecure about my very low nasal bridge.
Seeing friends develop contracture after rhinoplasty
made me too afraid to consider surgery for a long time.
While watching YouTube,
I came across content from RU Plastic Surgery.
I learned that it was possible to enhance
both the nasal bridge and tip
using only autologous rib cartilage,
without silicone associated with inflammation and contracture.
That gave me the courage to seek a consultation.
On the day of my consultation,
Dr. Hyunjoo Kim explained in detail, using a presentation,
how autologous rib cartilage would be prepared and placed.
Before I could even ask the many questions
I had written down in my phone,
he addressed them thoroughly and proactively,
which built strong trust.
Autologous rib cartilage was used to support the nasal tip,
and finely diced rib cartilage wrapped in fascia
was used to augment the low nasal bridge.
Columellar lowering was also performed,
correcting the retracted appearance
and creating a softer, well-balanced columella.
I expected severe swelling and bruising after surgery,
but the swelling was much less than anticipated,
with only mild bruising under the eyes.
I believe this was due to careful tissue handling.
The most uncomfortable part was mouth breathing
from nasal packing, which caused throat dryness.
Discomfort at the rib harvest site occurred
only with coughing or large movements.
Now just over two weeks postoperatively,
some residual swelling remains between the brows
and around the cheeks and nasal bridge.
Even so, I am already very satisfied.
The straight nasal bridge I always wanted,
a refined yet softly rounded nasal tip,
and a naturally contoured columella
all look harmonious and balanced.
At this point, I truly question
why silicone would be chosen
when it carries higher risks of inflammation and contracture.
Although full autologous rib surgery is more costly,
safety was my top priority,
and I have no regrets.
I am very satisfied both aesthetically and psychologically.
Knowing that only my own tissue was used
gives me great peace of mind.
I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Hyunjoo Kim
for helping me overcome a long-standing insecurity.
