Autologous Tissue Rhinoplasty for a Bulbous Nose – 2 Weeks Postoperative
본문

My nose originally had a bulbous shape with a noticeable depression along the lateral nasal lines,
and the columella was relatively short.
Overall, this made the midface appear flat and lacking definition,
which had been a long-standing concern.
With the goal of achieving a natural yet well-defined nasal contour,
I decided to proceed with rhinoplasty.
As I live in Daegu, I initially focused on clinics in that area.
During my research, I learned that autologous rib cartilage rhinoplasty
is known for its durability and lower risk of complications.
While watching rhinoplasty videos on YouTube,
I discovered cases performed at RU Plastic Surgery.
After extensive research, I was particularly impressed by
the thorough consultations and the fact that the surgeon personally
removes the nasal splint, which gave me confidence in choosing this clinic.
After consultation with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim,
the surgical plan included autologous rib cartilage for the nasal bridge (sliced),
autologous rib cartilage for the nasal tip,
columellar lowering, bulbous nose correction,
and nasolabial angle adjustment.
Immediately after surgery, the pain was less severe than expected,
and the rib cartilage donor site was not particularly uncomfortable,
which was reassuring.
The most difficult part was nasal obstruction,
which caused dryness in the throat and a feeling of congestion.
For the first few days, the nose felt heavy and uncomfortable,
making it difficult to sleep well.
However, breathing became much easier after the nasal packing was removed the following day.
I carefully followed postoperative instructions,
including taking prescribed medications and performing cold compresses,
along with consistent self-care.
After splint removal, swelling was still present,
but the improvement in the lateral nasal lines—my primary concern—
was clearly visible.
This gave my face a more three-dimensional appearance.
Recovery has been faster than I expected,
and overall, I am satisfied while continuing to monitor my progress.
As swelling is still present at this stage,
I am looking forward to further improvement
and am especially curious to see how the results evolve after one month.
