Two Weeks After Functional Rhinoplasty Using Autologous Rib Cartilage
본문

Motivation for Surgery
My nose was not objectively unattractive, and during consultations, several doctors even told me that surgery was not strictly necessary.
However, whenever I looked at photos, I consistently felt dissatisfied with my nose.
Although I had a nasal bridge, the nasal tip was relatively low, so the overall height did not appear sufficient.
In addition, the columella was short, which made the nose look shorter from the front.
After a long period of consideration, I finally decided that this was the right time to proceed with rhinoplasty.
Reason for Choosing the Clinic
I learned about RU Plastic Surgery through a rhinoplasty vlog on YouTube.
The result shown by one YouTuber was exactly the aesthetic I was looking for, so I began researching the clinic further.
All of the before-and-after photos aligned closely with my personal preference, which led me to schedule a consultation.
During the consultation, the consultation manager was extremely kind and attentive, which played a significant role in my decision.
I also felt that my aesthetic preferences aligned well with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim’s approach, and that ultimately led me to proceed with surgery.
Surgical Plan
Because my nose was deviated, septal deviation correction was performed.
Autologous rib cartilage was used for the nasal tip, and silicone was used for the nasal bridge.
In addition, bulbous nose correction, short nose correction, columellar lowering, and two functional nasal procedures for rhinitis were performed,
specifically septal deviation correction and inferior turbinate reduction.
Recovery Process
On the day of surgery, my eyes were actually more painful than my nose or rib area.
They were extremely bloodshot and watery, to the point where I considered going to the emergency room.
When I contacted the consultation manager late at night, she responded promptly and checked on my condition, which was very reassuring.
The following day, when the nasal packing was removed, I explained the eye symptoms at the clinic.
I was told that dryness in the operating room may have caused a minor corneal abrasion.
After using the prescribed ophthalmic ointment and artificial tears, my eye discomfort improved significantly by the next day.
Two-Week Postoperative Assessment
It has now been a little over two weeks since the functional rhinoplasty.
There is still some discomfort in the rib harvest area, but it has improved considerably compared to the early postoperative period.
Nasal swelling has also decreased noticeably.
As the swelling subsided, I could clearly see that the retracted columella had been corrected,
and although the nose is higher than before, it has settled into a very natural appearance.
At times, I even find myself thinking that I could have gone slightly more dramatic.
However, I believe that a more pronounced change might not have suited my face,
and overall, the result feels well-balanced and harmonious.
While there is still some residual asymmetry due to my underlying facial axis,
which Dr. Hyunjoo Kim explained was unavoidable,
aside from that point, I am very satisfied with the overall outcome.
