It’s been three months since my revision surgery for an upturned nose.
After seeing a close friend’s revision nose surgery results at RU Plastic Surgery—
the improvement in both the profile and the front view was so dramatic—
I finally decided to go in for a consultation about my own long-standing concern,
which was my upturned nose.
After being examined by Dr. Hyun Joo Kim,
I was told that my case was a deformed upturned nose revision,
not a severe contracture nose caused by active inflammation.
Because of that, the plan was to use silicone for the nasal bridge,
while carefully removing and organizing the existing capsule and scar tissue.
Since I had already undergone nose surgery twice before,
I was told that there would likely be a lot of internal scar tissue once the nose was opened.
And honestly, even from the outside, my nose before revision was pretty bad.
It didn’t look like a natural nose at all—
it clearly looked like a failed surgery.
Whenever I looked in the mirror, my eyes went straight to my nose.
My nostrils were overly exposed, and from the side view,
the columella looked cut and the nose was extremely short and overly lifted—
a very severe upturned nose.
I’m not too concerned about the columella scar,
but I’ve been diligently applying scar cream to the rib cartilage incision.
Since I’ve used rib cartilage before, I already know the scar fades after about six months,
so I’m not too worried about it.
Compared to the rib scar, what matters much more to me is the nose itself.
The change is dramatic, and the result has a beautifully balanced, elegant curve—
the kind of refined yet natural look people describe as “gracefully pretty.”
Because of that, my satisfaction with the outcome is far greater than any concern about scarring.
