[Two-week postoperative review]
The reason I decided to undergo surgery
was my long-standing concern regarding a bulbous nose.
To address this, I chose male rhinoplasty using autologous rib cartilage.
Because I am naturally cautious,
I consulted with several clinics and spent a significant amount of time
researching my desired nasal shape through YouTube and online communities.
During this process, I found two before-and-after cases
that matched my ideal aesthetic perfectly,
and both had been performed at RU Plastic Surgery.
This led me to schedule a consultation.
During my consultation with Dr. Kim Hyun Joo,
he explained that in addition to the bulbous tip,
my nasal tip had mild drooping contributing to a long nose appearance,
and that the nasolabial angle was recessed.
He recommended addressing all of these factors together,
which I felt was a thorough and well-reasoned plan.
After the consultation, I decided to proceed with surgery
and scheduled the operation the same day.
At other clinics, I had been told that
calcification of my rib cartilage might prevent the use of autologous rib.
However, Dr. Kim explained that it would not be an issue
and emphasized that autologous rib cartilage
is one of the safest and most reliable materials for rhinoplasty.
Based on this explanation, I chose to proceed using autologous rib cartilage.
At the two-week mark,
there is still a significant amount of swelling remaining,
so it is difficult to fully assess the improvement in the bulbous tip.
However, the correction of the nasolabial angle
has already improved my side profile
and reduced the previously dull or heavy facial impression.
As requested from the beginning,
the nasal line has been formed in a very natural manner,
and I have been hearing comments that my overall impression
looks completely different compared to before.
I am looking forward to further reduction of swelling
around the nasal tip and glabella area,
as this should allow the nasal structure
and facial dimension to appear even more refined and defined.
