Six-Month Postoperative Review After Short Nose Revision Rhinoplasty (Fourth Rhinoplasty)

It has now been six months since my revision rhinoplasty,
and I would like to share my overall experience at this stage.
This surgery was my fourth nasal operation,
and after the previous procedures, I had reached a point where I had nearly given up
and decided to live with the result as it was.
By chance, I came across surgical cases by Dr. Kim Hyun Joo
and scheduled a consultation at RU Plastic Surgery.
Even during the consultation alone, many of my concerns were clearly addressed,
and I decided to proceed with revision surgery without seeking opinions from other clinics.
My greatest source of stress had been the elevated columella
and the upturned appearance of my nose,
which made it resemble a pig-nose deformity.
At other clinics, this was generally diagnosed simply as a contracted nose.
However, Dr. Kim was the first to clearly explain that the issue stemmed
from the underlying short-nose structural anatomy.
Rather than focusing solely on the final appearance,
Dr. Kim carefully evaluated my individual condition,
explained the realistic range of correction,
and provided a clear and honest plan on how improvement could be achieved.
This approach built a strong sense of trust.
The revision surgery was performed using autologous rib cartilage
in combination with donated dermal matrix (Megaderm).
The recovery process was relatively smooth.
During the first one to two months, there was noticeable swelling and firmness,
but from the third month onward, the nose gradually softened and appeared more natural.
Now, at over six months postoperatively,
most of the swelling has resolved,
and both the nasal bridge and tip have stabilized well.
At present, the frontal view appears natural,
and the profile line is significantly softer and more balanced.
Unlike before, when the nasal tip appeared excessively elevated
and the structure felt unstable,
the overall facial proportions now feel harmonious and relaxed.
Whether in daily life or when taking photos,
the stress I once felt about my nose has largely disappeared.
Although revision surgery naturally comes with anxiety,
this procedure has proven to be a genuinely satisfying decision.
