Revision Rhinoplasty for a Depressed Radix, Hump Nose, and Long Nose

I had long been dissatisfied with my nose,
including a deeply depressed radix, a prominent dorsal hump, and an elongated nasal shape.
The columella was barely visible, the nasal tip appeared widened,
and I also had features of a bulbous nose.
These concerns had existed since childhood,
and I always knew that rhinoplasty would eventually be necessary.
When I finally had the time, I decided to proceed with surgery.
Because my work requires me to visit the Nonhyeon Station area about once a month,
I decided to consult clinics nearby during one of those visits.
While searching, I found a clinic known for specializing in autologous rib cartilage rhinoplasty.
After thoroughly reviewing YouTube videos and the official website,
I decided to visit RU Plastic Surgery for consultation.
I also consulted other clinics,
but what stood out most during my consultation with Dr. Kim Hyun Joo
was the simplicity and clarity of the surgical plan.
Other clinics proposed multiple procedures such as extensive hump reduction,
alar base reduction, and aggressive bulbous nose correction.
In contrast, Dr. Kim explained that many of these were not necessary
and that a good result could be achieved without excessive intervention.
This confidence, along with a more conservative and focused approach,
was reassuring and reduced my overall burden as a patient.
The final surgical plan aligned exactly with what I had envisioned:
silicone augmentation for the nasal bridge
and autologous rib cartilage for the nasal tip.
Another aspect I appreciated was postoperative care—
the nasal packing was removed after just one day,
which significantly reduced discomfort.
Postoperative swelling was less severe than expected.
By consistently walking, following medication instructions,
and maintaining proper aftercare,
I could feel steady improvement day by day.
After splint removal, I found myself constantly checking my reflection,
as each day revealed further refinement of my nose.
Beyond the physical changes,
my confidence has noticeably improved.
Hearing frequent comments from others saying the result looks beautiful and well done
has reinforced that choosing hump nose surgery was the right decision.
The recovery process was worth it,
and I am very satisfied with both the outcome and the experience overall.
