One-Month Review After Revision Rhinoplasty and Chin Advancement Genioplasty

Before / 1m post-op
I had not originally been seriously planning to undergo another rhinoplasty or facial contouring procedure. However, after watching videos featuring Dr. Hyunju Kim on YouTube, I felt confident enough in his surgical approach to schedule a consultation and ultimately decided to proceed with surgery at RU Plastic Surgery.
Because I had significant rhinitis, I was told that leaving the functional nasal issues untreated could potentially affect the stability and alignment of the nose over time. As far as I remember, I underwent two functional nasal procedures in addition to the revision rhinoplasty.
For the rhinoplasty, silicone was used for the nasal bridge and autologous rib cartilage was used for the nasal tip.
My chin was also relatively short, so I underwent chin advancement genioplasty with some additional lengthening. I believe the amount of advancement was approximately 2 to 3 mm, although I do not remember the exact measurement.
The recovery after having both the rhinoplasty and chin surgery at the same time was honestly quite difficult for me.
I have always been prone to problems involving my nose, throat, and respiratory system, and I had previously even undergone tonsillectomy because of recurrent issues. After this surgery, I developed both a severe sore throat and bronchitis at the same time.
Since I was also unable to breathe comfortably through my nose during the early recovery period, the combination of symptoms made the first stage of recovery extremely difficult. Emotionally, it was also a very challenging period, and I remember feeling quite overwhelmed.
It has now been about one month since surgery. Most of the other symptoms have improved, but I am still experiencing a persistent cough and am currently receiving treatment for it at another medical facility.
I have undergone several procedures in the past, including tonsillectomy, LASIK, and treatment related to a herniated disc, but personally, recovering from the rhinoplasty and chin surgery while dealing with a respiratory infection at the same time was one of the most difficult recovery experiences I have had.
In terms of the nasal shape itself, I feel that the result looks very natural overall.
At the moment, however, the nose still appears somewhat broad and rounded to me, particularly around the nasal tip. Since I am only one month into recovery, I plan to ask about this specifically at my next follow-up appointment.
Even so, when I compare the current appearance with my previous nose, I still feel that undergoing the revision surgery was the right decision for me.
As for the chin, I personally feel that the overall facial balance looks better after the advancement procedure. Interestingly, the change appears subtle enough that people around me have not really noticed that I underwent chin surgery, so I have not mentioned it to many people.
During recovery, I also began experiencing significant tightness around the lower jaw and gums, along with pain around the right temporomandibular joint.
The discomfort was quite severe at first, although it has improved somewhat with time. I plan to discuss this as well during my upcoming postoperative follow-up.
At one month postoperatively, I am still very much in the recovery phase. Although the healing process has been more difficult than I expected because of the respiratory symptoms and jaw discomfort, I am currently pleased with the natural appearance of the rhinoplasty and the improvement in my overall facial balance after the chin advancement.
