Two-Week Postoperative Review After Revision Rhinoplasty at RU Plastic Surgery
본문

It has been two weeks since I underwent revision rhinoplasty
at RU Plastic Surgery.
Approximately two and a half years ago,
I had my first rhinoplasty using donated rib cartilage, silicone,
and septal cartilage.
Although the overall shape was not poor initially,
the donated rib cartilage gradually resorbed over time.
By around the two-year mark,
the silicone implant began to protrude sharply at the nasal tip.
When I revisited the hospital,
I was told that due to my thin nasal skin,
the silicone was becoming visible
and there was a risk of extrusion.
I was advised to remove the implant as soon as possible.
As a result, I began looking into non-implant rhinoplasty
with a focus on silicone removal.
During this process,
I learned about RU Plastic Surgery
and their experience with contracture nose revision
using diced rib cartilage.
I was particularly drawn to
Dr. Kim Hyun Joo’s aesthetic sense,
which emphasizes a natural yet refined nasal shape,
as well as his approach of prioritizing safety
and proceeding conservatively during surgery.
At this stage,
my priority was no longer achieving a high or dramatic nose,
but rather creating a safe, stable result
that would not require further surgery in the future.
Although I had read that RU Plastic Surgery places great importance
on communication with patients,
the consultation exceeded my expectations.
Compared to other clinics,
the consultation was significantly longer and more detailed,
covering surgical methods, technical difficulty,
the patient’s desired design,
and what was realistically achievable.
Because my concerns and expectations were genuinely respected,
I decided to proceed with revision surgery at RU Plastic Surgery.
The surgical plan consisted of
the nasal bridge using diced autologous rib cartilage
with an InnoFit mold,
and reinforcement of the nasal tip
through septal cartilage strengthening.
The overall design was not intended to drastically change my existing nose,
but rather to make it safer and more natural.
From immediately after surgery,
I had a strong sense that this revision had been successful.
The nasal shape is softly defined,
natural, and well balanced.
What surprised me the most
was the minimal amount of swelling.
The lack of significant swelling was truly impressive,
and it highlighted Dr. Kim Hyun Joo’s technical expertise
in autologous rib rhinoplasty.
The absence of silicone alone
has given me tremendous peace of mind.
I am especially satisfied knowing
that my nasal height can be maintained
using only autologous tissue,
without any artificial implants.
Although it has only been two weeks,
and residual swelling still needs to subside
with some further changes expected,
I am extremely pleased with the overall shape,
the maintained height,
and the thorough postoperative care.
From the attentive coordination staff
to Dr. Kim Hyun Joo’s direct follow-up,
every aspect of the postoperative process
has been reassuring and satisfying.
