Two-Month Postoperative Review After Contracture Nose Revision Rhinoplasty

It has been two months since my contracture nose revision surgery,
and the most noticeable change is that the overall nasal shape
and side profile look more refined and aesthetically pleasing.
As the swelling continues to subside,
the nose feels increasingly well-defined,
almost as if retained fluid is gradually draining away.
The nose still feels firm to the touch,
but during my follow-up visit,
the surgeon explained that this firmness typically softens significantly
after six months, allowing for more natural lateral mobility.
The rib cartilage donor site remains slightly red,
so I have been consistently applying a scar ointment
purchased from the pharmacy every night.
Previously, I had significant asymmetry in the columella
and nostrils,
but with simultaneous correction of the deviated nose,
the symmetry has improved to a noticeable degree.
There is still a slight deviation,
which I was told can be related to overall facial asymmetry.
To me, it remains somewhat noticeable,
but people around me say the result looks very good,
so I do feel that the improvement has been substantial.
I am learning to let go of excessive expectations.
When I look at my nose in the morning,
especially when there is more swelling,
the nasal tip can still appear a bit bulky from the front.
However, after going about my daily routine
and washing my face in the evening,
the nose often appears slimmer and more refined.
I was informed that contracture nose revision using
diced autologous rib cartilage combined with scalp fascia
for dorsal reconstruction tends to involve a longer swelling period,
so I am looking forward to continued improvement over time.
This contracture nose revision was performed
by Dr. Kim Hyun Joo at RU Plastic Surgery.
The procedure included autologous rib cartilage for the nasal tip
(septal reinforcement and extension with reconstruction),
and scalp fascia combined with diced autologous rib cartilage
for the nasal bridge.
Additional procedures included short nose correction,
columellar lowering, and deviated nose correction.
In the past, I underwent revision rhinoplasty at another clinic
using only dermal tissue.
At that time, the shape did not change significantly from the beginning,
and as time passed, the tissue was absorbed
and the nasal shape continued to change.
In contrast, this time the correction feels definitive and stable,
which has given me a great sense of reassurance and peace of mind.
