Two-Week Postoperative Review After Autologous Rib Hump Rhinoplasty in a Middle-Aged Patient at RU Plastic Surgery
본문

After sustaining a nasal fracture in childhood, my nose gradually developed a dorsal hump.
Over the years, this appearance led to a loss of confidence and became a quiet emotional burden that stayed with me.
With the desire to create a meaningful turning point in my life, I found my motivation to undergo autologous rib rhinoplasty.
Once I made up my mind, I followed the principle of acting without delay.
Through recommendations from acquaintances, online postoperative photos, and surgical videos,
I explored various sources of information. I visited approximately five clinics,
including specialized plastic surgery hospitals and well-regarded private practices.
In the process, I realized how important it was to find a surgeon who could carefully analyze my nasal condition,
clearly identify the underlying causes, and present a precise surgical direction.
While researching autologous rib rhinoplasty, I came across Dr. Kim Hyun Joo of RU Plastic Surgery.
After watching his surgical videos, I decided to have one final consultation before making my decision.
During the consultation, his thorough explanations and confident answers
to my concerns gave me a strong sense of trust and led me to think,
“I can safely entrust this surgery to him.”
As he carefully reviewed my CT scans, explaining my current condition
and the postoperative measures in detail, my decision became firm.
I was informed that correction of the dorsal hump, long nose correction,
and nasolabial angle adjustment would be necessary, and that the exact surgical approach
could vary depending on intraoperative findings.
Dr. Kim explained that during autologous rib harvest, dermal tissue would also be included,
and that this would be used to reconstruct the nasal tip, correct the long nose and nasolabial angle,
and reinforce both the skeletal endpoint and the nasal tip for structural stability.
His detailed and meticulous explanation remains vivid in my memory.
Immediately after surgery, having the nasal packing in place was extremely challenging.
The inability to breathe through my nose, dry lips, and overwhelming discomfort
made it difficult to sleep. However, once the packing was removed the following day,
I felt an immense sense of relief and freedom.
In my case, there was noticeable postoperative pain, but it remained at a tolerable level.
I reminded myself that time is the best remedy, and as each day passed,
I began to look forward to my features settling into a refined and harmonious appearance.
In closing, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the consistently kind nurses, coordinators,
and Dr. Kim Hyun Joo himself. I hope that the warmth and professionalism I experienced
continue unchanged, and I wish the entire team at RU Plastic Surgery continued success and fulfillment.
