Revision Rhinoplasty After 15 Years
본문

I had my first rhinoplasty about 15 years ago,
but I was unhappy with the silicone implant that started high from the radix,
and I felt that my nasal tip looked slightly droopy.
As I got older, my nose seemed larger and made my face look longer,
so I decided to undergo revision rhinoplasty at RU Plastic Surgery.
Since it was a revision surgery, I thoroughly reviewed photos and posts
across multiple communities and visited four clinics for consultation.
Among them, the consultation with Dr. Hyun Joong Kim felt the most trustworthy,
and the staff were all kind and professional, which made me feel comfortable.
For the revision, the starting point of the silicone was lowered,
the bulbous tip was corrected, and alar reduction was performed.
(The revision materials were silicone + autologous rib cartilage.)
Since I had already planned on using autologous rib cartilage,
I didn’t have any hesitation about using costal cartilage.
During the first five days after surgery,
the autologous rib cartilage donor site was painful,
and my throat hurt a lot because of general anesthesia.
There was almost no pain in the nose itself.
Now, at two weeks post-op, the rib area has improved significantly
and I barely feel any pain.
Although it is still only the second week and more swelling needs to subside,
I already feel the nasal bridge looks noticeably shorter,
which I like.
The major swelling and bruising have gone down enough
that I can go to work without a mask.
Since the silicone implant height near the radix was lowered,
it felt a bit unfamiliar at first,
but overall my facial impression seems improved,
so I am satisfied with the results.
