Four-Month Postoperative Review: Revision Surgery for Nasal Contracture
본문

It has been four months since I underwent revision surgery for nasal contracture with Dr. Kim Hyun-joo. Before the surgery, I was very worried about how well my nose would settle and whether the correction would look natural. Thankfully, it has healed beautifully, and I am very relieved and satisfied with the results.
Since the entire nasal bridge was reconstructed using autologous rib cartilage, the swelling seemed quite significant. I understand that most of the major swelling typically subsides within the first month, but I can clearly notice differences between the two-month and four-month marks—my swelling is gradually going down.
One thing I appreciate most is how specialized RU Plastic Surgery is in managing revision contracture cases. They are very attentive with postoperative care. For example, if there is scarring in an unfavorable location, they administer injections to improve it, and they inform me in advance that laser therapy might be necessary later. This level of care is very different from larger hospitals that often seem indifferent after surgery.
Usually, it is difficult to get follow-up consultations with the surgeon postoperatively, but here, the access to Dr. Kim is excellent—which is very comforting. I strongly recommend those suffering from nasal contracture, especially those with severe tip drooping or silicone-related contracture issues like mine, to at least have a consultation at RU Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kim’s consultations are truly helpful and reassuring, and the clinic staff, including the coordinators, are very kind and make the entire experience comfortable.
For my surgery, I had two rounds of stem cell treatment, and the nasal bridge was reconstructed using reinforced rib cartilage with scalp fascia, while the nasal tip was reconstructed solely with rib cartilage.
