Three-Month Follow-Up After Revision Surgery for Contracted Nose

It has been three months since I underwent revision surgery for a contracted nose at RU Plastic Surgery,
so I am writing an updated review.
Before coming to RU for this revision,
I had received about three rounds of nasal filler injections,
but none of them met my expectations.
Eventually, I had the fillers removed
and opted for functional rhinoplasty aimed at both aesthetic and functional improvement.
At that time, due to my relatively thin skin,
the surgical approach focused less on creating a sharply elevated nasal shape
and more on correcting the deviation of my nose.
The procedure involved using a silicone implant combined with my own autologous tissue
for the nasal bridge and tip reconstruction.
I was somewhat satisfied and things went well initially.
However, starting around five years after surgery,
I began noticing subtle changes in my nose,
and by seven to eight years later,
the deformity had become significant enough for others to comment on the abnormal appearance.
This prompted me to consider revision surgery.
With a wedding approaching soon,
I started searching diligently for a reliable clinic.
These days, online plastic surgery communities and apps
are very helpful for research.
I shortlisted two clinics known for revision and reconstructive surgery
of contracted noses and scheduled consultations.
At Clinic A, they informed me that due to my thin skin,
even revision surgery would likely bring only minimal aesthetic improvement.
They mentioned they could slightly lower the nasal tip,
but gave no definitive guarantee.
I decided not to proceed with surgery there.
Next, I visited Clinic B, which was RU Plastic Surgery.
Although it seemed busy on the day I visited,
the wait was worth it due to the thorough consultation.
The consultation manager carefully reviewed my surgical history
and listened attentively to my desired outcomes.
What surprised me most was that Dr. Kim Hyun-joo personally conducted the consultation
for about 20 minutes—much longer than the typical 3 to 5 minutes at other clinics.
He patiently addressed every question I had
and even checked at the end if I had any further concerns.
Dr. Kim confidently assured me he could achieve the nasal contour I wanted.
This gave me the certainty to schedule the revision surgery immediately.
On the day of surgery, the most challenging part
was the harvesting of autologous rib cartilage.
After waking from anesthesia,
I struggled with severe breathing discomfort for about half a day.
As the anesthesia wore off, the pain intensified,
making movements and using my upper body very uncomfortable.
However, after about two weeks,
sitting and lying down became more comfortable,
and by one month post-op,
I was able to resume daily activities without any significant difficulty.
Now at the three-month mark,
I notice my nasal line has become slimmer,
especially when viewed from the front.
Since my surgeon explained that significant swelling is inevitable with this procedure,
he advised that the final result will only fully manifest after 6 to 12 months.
I am therefore looking forward to further refinement
and improvement over time.
