Two Weeks After My Third Revision Rhinoplasty: A Candid Review

I’m currently two weeks post-op from my third rhinoplasty at RU Plastic Surgery, where I underwent revision surgery for a contracted nose, and I’m honestly so happy with the results that I wanted to share my experience.
At that point, I came to a personal realization: soft materials like dermis and ear cartilage simply couldn’t provide the structural support needed to enhance my small nose. I did extensive research and concluded that I needed a surgeon who could work with autologous rib cartilage to reconstruct both the nasal tip and bridge.
That’s when I found Dr. Hyunjoo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery.
I came across a case he had performed that was remarkably similar to mine,
and the results were exactly what I was looking for.
During the consultation, Dr. Kim explained that while my nose didn’t show signs of active inflammation,
it had characteristics often associated with a contracted nose.
Fortunately, it wasn't a severe case of capsular contracture,
but given his expertise in revision rhinoplasty for such conditions, I felt reassured.
My main concern was enhancing projection—lifting and elongating the nose—while maintaining a natural look.
Dr. Kim assured me that he would maximize both height and structure using my own tissues.
For the procedure: Nasal tip: Reconstructed with solid autologous rib cartilage
Nasal bridge: Augmented with finely diced rib cartilage wrapped in fascia (similar to a soft-tissue implant)
Additional procedures included short nose correction, deviation correction (as seen from the front), and columella lengthening.
As expected, the surgical cost was on the higher end—comparable to what I had heard from others who visited RU. But considering my satisfaction at this stage, I now view it as a worthwhile investment. Better to get it done right once than go through yet another unsatisfactory revision elsewhere.
Though the idea of lying down flat still terrifies me (post-op positioning is no joke!), the overall experience at RU has been very reassuring. Their follow-up care and revision support are top-notch, which gives me added peace of mind.
At the two-week mark, the swelling is still significant—my nose looks quite bulky in person. However, the height and volume have improved dramatically, and I’m genuinely amazed at how much change has occurred in just a few days.
