Eight years ago, I had rhinoplasty at a large hospital, but I started noticing a whitish shadow of the silicone implant showing through my nasal tip. After researching extensively, I decided to visit RU Plastic Surgery. My main concerns were the short nose and bulbous tip, which I wanted to improve.
RU Plastic Surgery is well-known online for revision surgeries addressing contracted noses, which led me to choose this clinic. I was unaware that I had developed a contracted nose until the doctor explained it to me. A CT scan showed that the silicone implant was dangerously close to perforating the skin—a very discouraging realization.
The treatment plan began with removing the silicone implant, followed by stem cell therapy to improve tissue health. After seeing progress, I underwent revision surgery using entirely autologous rib cartilage. The surgery included reconstruction of the collapsed nasal tip and columella, correction of the short nose, and reinforcement with rib cartilage embedded in scalp fascia—all using my own tissues, as explained thoroughly by Dr. Kim. The inflammation was caused by the previous silicone implant.
Initially, the idea of using rib cartilage for revision surgery was very intimidating. However, after the surgery, I realized it was not as difficult as I feared. Comparing before-and-after photos, I am extremely satisfied with how much the nasal tip and columella were lengthened. The side profile has become especially beautiful, and I am truly grateful.
Every morning when I wake up, I feel like bowing in gratitude towards Dr. Kim! Previously, seeing both nostrils clearly from the front was a constant source of stress, but that has greatly improved now. I sincerely thank Dr. Kim Hyun-joo for the remarkable results.
