Male Rhinoplasty for Bulbous and Short Nose – Two-Month Postoperative Review
본문

I decided to visit RU Plastic Surgery after seeing the dramatic before-and-after results of a friend who had undergone rhinoplasty there. I had always been self-conscious about my low nasal bridge, short nose, and the slightly drooping appearance of my nasal tip. My nose felt small and under-projected overall.
Initially, I considered nose fillers, but quickly learned that while fillers may offer temporary improvement to the bridge, they are not suitable for correcting the nasal tip. Moreover, I was warned that filler can sometimes spread over time, leading to an unnatural, overly wide "avatar-like" nose. That was enough to convince me to pursue a more definitive solution through surgery.
For my procedure, a 5mm silicone implant was used to augment the nasal bridge. The nasal tip was corrected using autologous rib cartilage, addressing a bulbous tip, short nose, and a retracted columella—all of which were contributing to my concerns. Although I was unfamiliar with the concept of autologous rib cartilage at first, I learned that when used properly in a primary surgery, it can provide long-lasting, stable results.
Now, at two months post-op, I feel that my recovery is progressing well. In the first month, the donor site from the rib harvest was sore and mildly uncomfortable, but the major pain subsided within about five days. For those in physically demanding jobs, I’d recommend planning for about 5–7 days of reduced activity to allow proper healing.
If you're a man considering rhinoplasty—especially for issues like a bulbous or short nose—I highly recommend Dr. Hyun Joo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery. Her expertise and detailed approach helped me achieve a result that feels both natural and balanced with my facial features.
