6 Months After Revision Rhinoplasty: Aiming for a Shorter Midface with Autologous Rib Cartilage
본문

At the six-month mark following my revision rhinoplasty,
I wanted to share some thoughts and impressions.
The main reason I decided to undergo a revision was to remove the silicone implant.
I was determined that this would be my final nose surgery, so I opted for autologous rib cartilage,
which felt like the most reliable and lasting solution. Rather than drastically changing the shape of my nose,
my goal was to subtly enhance it to achieve a more refined look—particularly the kind of nose that gives the illusion of a shorter midface,
which is a popular aesthetic these days.
Since I specifically wanted to use autologous rib cartilage, I researched surgeons with extensive experience in this type of procedure.
I chose Dr. Hyun Joo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery because not only is he highly regarded for rib cartilage rhinoplasty,
but he is also well-known for his work in facial contouring, which gave me confidence in his ability to handle bony structures with precision.
At RU Plastic Surgery, the revision was performed entirely without synthetic implants. The procedure involved using autologous rib cartilage and septal cartilage.
The focus was on shortening the appearance of the midface, lifting the alar base, and correcting the nasolabial angle.
Postoperatively, I’ve received many comments saying that my midface appears shorter—exactly the result I was hoping for.
I can see the difference myself as well, and I’m very satisfied with the outcome.
