Postoperative Month 1 Following Primary Rhinoplasty Using Autologous Rib Cartilage and Silicone Implant for Short Nose and Bulbous Tip Correction
본문

The reason I decided to undergo rhinoplasty
was because I had a deep-seated complex about my nose since childhood.
Whenever I looked in the mirror,
I felt dissatisfied with the shape of my nose—
it was flat,
my nostrils were overly visible,
and the nasal tip was bulbous.
I wanted to correct all three of these concerns.
I decided to have surgery after completing my military service.
Coincidentally,
a junior colleague who was also considering rhinoplasty
recommended RU Plastic Surgery.
I scheduled a consultation,
during which a CT scan was performed
and my nasal structure was thoroughly evaluated.
The consultation manager was very kind,
and the process made me feel confident in proceeding.
During my consultation with Dr. Hyun Joo Kim,
he explained that my nose was short,
low in height,
and had a retracted columella.
Based on his assessment,
the surgical plan included short nose correction,
columella lengthening,
nasal tip reconstruction using autologous rib cartilage,
and dorsal augmentation using a silicone implant.
After the surgery,
Dr. Kim personally came by to check my condition
and explained the recovery process in detail.
His attentiveness was very reassuring.
For the first two weeks,
I experienced some swelling,
but I carefully followed the postoperative care instructions—
especially icing—
and recovered without any complications.
By one month post-op,
the swelling had subsided significantly,
and my nose looked very natural.
I was genuinely surprised
by how closely the result matched
the reference photo I had brought in.
People around me commented
that my nose looked so good
that I seemed like a completely different person,
and many asked where I had the surgery done.
I am extremely satisfied with the results—
my short nose,
bulbous tip,
and excessive nostril show
have all been corrected.
I would rate my satisfaction a solid 100.
