Three Months After Filler Dissolution and Autologous Rib Cartilage Rhinoplasty
본문

It has now been three months since I had my nasal filler dissolved using hyaluronidase
and underwent rhinoplasty using autologous rib cartilage at RU Plastic Surgery.
In the early postoperative period, particularly after splint removal,
I was preoccupied with concerns about residual swelling—wondering
when it would subside. At the time, the days felt incredibly long,
but now, at the three-month mark,
I can barely remember how difficult it was.
Everything feels like a distant memory—almost romanticized.
I never thought my original nose was particularly unattractive,
but after comparing recent selfies post-surgery with older ones taken when I still had filler,
the difference is dramatic.
My nasal tip used to appear bulbous and my dorsum blunt—classic
signs of a poorly placed filler, often referred to as an “avatar nose.”
Now, the nasal tip is firm and securely structured. I’ve heard this kind of rigidity is common after nasal tip surgery.
I even compared my result with friends who also had rhinoplasty—some using septal cartilage,
others using rib cartilage like me. While we all noticed the “pig nose” (upward push) effect was no longer possible,
the degree of firmness varied noticeably depending on the material and the surgeon.
Friends who had septal or ear cartilage reported a firmer yet slightly pliable feel.
In contrast, those of us who underwent rib cartilage grafting—especially
with autologous costal cartilage—noticed a much more rigid and stable structure.
Despite this firmness, it doesn’t interfere with daily life at all.
In fact, I instinctively turn my head away now when
I’m about to drop my phone while lying down—it's funny how the body naturally protects the nose post-surgery.
More importantly, I’m incredibly happy with the aesthetic result.
The nasal line turned out exactly as I hoped,
and I particularly recommend paying close attention to the nasolabial angle during surgery.
Subtle improvements in that area make a significant difference in the profile and overall facial harmony.
I also had full-face fat grafting done at the same time,
which I believe contributed to the overall improvement in facial balance.
