One-Month Postoperative Review Following Rhinoplasty with Autologous Rib Cartilage and Diced Cartilage Graft – RU Plastic Surgery
본문

It has now been one month since I underwent rhinoplasty with Dr. Hyun Joo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery,
and I’d like to take a moment to share my experience in detail.
My primary concern was the under-projected and low nasal structure,
which caused my facial features to appear flat and indistinct.
I came across RU Plastic Surgery on Instagram and was immediately drawn to the before-and-after photos.
The results were exactly what I had envisioned—refined yet natural, not overdone,
and truly harmonious with the patient's original features.
I was particularly reassured by the clinic's reputation for specializing in revision rhinoplasty and the use of autologous rib cartilage.
When I visited for a consultation, the clinic's calm and non-commercial atmosphere stood out in contrast to the
high-volume clinics I had encountered elsewhere.
As a solo-practitioner system,
it allowed for personalized care and thorough communication.
From the first consultation, Dr. Kim’s sincerity and attentiveness gave me full confidence,
and I quickly decided to proceed with the surgery here.
Due to the inherently small and low structure of my nose, combined with insufficient septal cartilage,
Dr. Kim recommended the use of autologous rib cartilage for structural support and projection.
He explained that it provides both strength and safety, which helped me feel even more secure in the decision.
The final surgical plan included tip projection using autologous rib cartilage, a silicone implant for the nasal dorsum,
and an additional dermal allograft (MegaDerm) overlay due to my thin skin envelope.
The procedure also included columellar strut extension, nasal base support (alar base modification),
and nasolabial angle correction. Surprisingly, I was not nervous before entering the operating room,
fully trusting Dr. Kim’s surgical expertise. Postoperatively, I only experienced minor discomfort such as throat dryness
and slight muscle soreness at the rib harvest site, which was entirely tolerable.
Nasal breathing restriction was initially unfamiliar,
but manageable with proper guidance from the clinic staff.
When the nasal splint was removed a week later,
I was impressed even through the swelling—the overall line and contour were exactly what I had hoped for.
The elevated nasal dorsum significantly enhanced my facial profile,
and my features appeared more defined and balanced.
People around me began asking if I had undergone other facial procedures due to the improved harmony of my facial proportions.
I now find myself frequently taking profile photos, something I avoided before.
Most notably, the postoperative care at RU Plastic Surgery has been outstanding.
Dr. Kim personally monitors my recovery during every visit and explains each step with clarity.
The entire staff, including the coordinator and nurses, have been consistently professional, attentive, and kind.
I have experienced zero discomfort in terms of communication or follow-up.
Overall, I am deeply satisfied with the outcome and care,
and I feel genuinely grateful to have entrusted this surgery to RU Plastic Surgery.
