Revision Rhinoplasty with Autologous Rib Cartilage – My Experience

The main reason I decided to undergo revision rhinoplasty
was because my nasal tip seemed to have dropped significantly compared to when I first had surgery.
Another concern was that although I had originally hoped to improve my bulbous nose,
the first procedure did very little to address it.
Because of that, I wanted a more definitive correction using autologous rib cartilage.
I first came across RU Plastic Surgery on Instagram through before-and-after videos.
The nose shapes stood out to me immediately because they matched exactly what I was looking for—
natural, feminine, and elegant without appearing overdone.
After thinking it over, I decided to schedule a consultation.
During my consultation,
I explained that my biggest goals were to improve the bulbous appearance of my nose
and add a bit more projection to the tip.
The surgical plan included a silicone implant for the bridge
and autologous rib cartilage for the tip.
Since my nose wasn't excessively wide,
alar reduction was not considered necessary.
To be honest, because this was revision surgery,
the recovery felt more difficult than my first rhinoplasty, especially during the first week.
It may have been because it was my first experience with rib cartilage harvesting,
but I definitely felt more discomfort than I remembered from my original surgery.
That said, the postoperative care was excellent.
The clinic provided ointment for my eyes, bruise cream for under-eye discoloration,
and detailed instructions for recovery.
Dr. Hyun Joo Kim also took the time to explain everything clearly,
including nasal irrigation, activity restrictions, and when it would be safe to resume exercise.
As the swelling improved,
I could clearly see that my nose looked more feminine and refined than before.
The drooping tip that had bothered me so much was corrected,
and the overall shape feels much more elegant and balanced.
Of course, everyone hopes to achieve their ideal result with their first rhinoplasty.
But personally, I feel fortunate that I met Dr. Hyun Joo Kim for my revision surgery.
I'm grateful to have finally achieved the look I wanted,
and I hope to continue enjoying the result for many years to come without complications.
