I recently underwent my third revision rhinoplasty at RU Plastic Surgery,

approximately two weeks ago, and I’m already noticing a rapid reduction in swelling.

My very first rhinoplasty involved septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and silicone, but unfortunately,

it didn’t achieve the desired shape or projection, which led me to seek a revision shortly after.

That second surgery was performed using autologous rib cartilage at a clinic known for its rib graft techniques.

Initially, the results seemed promising — my nose looked higher and more defined.

However, over time, it became noticeably shorter, and the columella began to retract.

Although I had been assured that autologous rib cartilage has minimal absorption and is unlikely to droop,

my experience turned out differently.

The changes were so noticeable that people around me began to comment
on how my nose appeared to be getting shorter and even speculated about possible inflammation.

That’s when a friend recommended Dr. Hyun Joo Kim, a specialist in revision rhinoplasty for contracted nose deformities.

After researching extensively, reading numerous patient reviews, and carefully reviewing Dr. Kim’s blog posts,

I decided to schedule a consultation. From our first meeting, Dr. Kim immediately understood my concerns and communicated clearly and confidently.

The fact that he routinely uses autologous rib cartilage — an essential grafting material for correction of contracted nose —
gave me further confidence in his expertise.

Despite it being my third rhinoplasty, the first-week swelling was minimal, which I found incredibly reassuring.

I was initially concerned about the broad, high appearance of my radix, but Dr. Kim carefully assessed the area during splint removal.

Using a cotton swab, he examined each region to differentiate between residual swelling and normal contour — explaining, for instance,

that areas with firm texture were already settled while those with soft movement still contained edema.

His detailed explanation helped put me at ease.

Even though I’m familiar with the recovery process, there’s always some anxiety during the early stages.

But now, as the shape becomes more defined, I see it aligning beautifully with the aesthetic I hoped for.

The results are very similar to other successful revision cases I had seen posted by patients of RU Plastic Surgery,

and I feel genuinely happy and satisfied.

Friends who were aware of how upturned and retracted

my nasal tip used to be are amazed at how naturally and aesthetically it has been corrected.

Many are now asking for the clinic information.

In this surgery, I received autologous rib cartilage grafting, columella lengthening, short nose correction, and alar base reduction.
