My first rhinoplasty was done without an implant—only tip work. I had a slightly protruded mouth and heard that improving the nasal tip could help reduce that,
so I went ahead. But honestly, at the time, I wasn’t sure if anything had really improved.
Over time, the tip got thinner, smaller, and lower, and I realized what I thought was the final shape was actually just swelling all along.
I had always planned to undergo revision surgery when I had enough time off,
and recently I came across reviews of RU Plastic Surgery that really resonated with the style and approach I was looking for.
I liked that it’s a single-surgeon clinic specializing in autologous rib cartilage.
After a consultation with Dr. Hyun Joo Kim, I felt it was the right match and quickly booked the revision. Since it was my first time harvesting rib cartilage,
I was really worried—it’s often described as painful. Surprisingly though, I felt better post-op compared to my first surgery done with septal cartilage only.
The rib site did ache when bending or using my upper body, but it wasn’t unbearable at all.
Aesthetically, I asked for a rounded tip rather than a sharp one, and that’s exactly what I got. I also had a columellar strut and nasolabial angle correction,
which made my lips appear less protruded. Now I understand how people say one surgery can really transform your facial impression—it’s true!
Every time I go in for a follow-up, Dr. Kim carefully checks in on my concerns and progress. That kind of attentive care has made the experience even better.
