Six-Month Update After Revision Rhinoplasty for Contracted Nose
본문

It’s already been six months since my revision rhinoplasty, and I can finally say my nose is starting to settle into place.
I had my surgery with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery, where I underwent a revision using autologous rib cartilage.
Because I previously had inflammation due to a silicone implant, we used rib cartilage for the nasal dorsum as well.
Dr. Kim crafted a framework by shaving the rib cartilage and wrapping it in fascia—an advanced technique that felt reassuring.
I was told that revision rhinoplasty, especially for contracted nose cases, can continue changing up to a year post-op. Early on,
my nose looked bulky and a bit swollen, but I remembered Dr. Kim's words that it would take time to look more refined. Now, looking back at old photos,
I can definitely see that the nose has slimmed down. Internal scar tissue (fibrosis) has also improved slightly.
That said, being a revision case, the scar tissue isn’t completely gone. Laser treatments during follow-up visits have helped,
though I have to admit they sting a bit—I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to do them again soon.
When I was searching for a clinic, RU wasn’t the cheapest option, but the personalized surgical plan, detailed consultation,
and impressive before-and-after results shown during the presentation made me feel confident in my choice.
Now at the six-month point, I often find myself thinking that I made the right decision by choosing Dr. Kim. More than anything,
I’m just relieved my nose is healthy again. And while it may not be a perfect 100% match to the nose I envisioned,
I’d say it’s about 70–80% there—good enough that I feel confident and comfortable. There are still small imperfections I could nitpick,
but considering how much of a complex my nose used to be—people even used to whisper about it—it feels amazing to just live my life without that weight. If anything,
I’ve just gained a bit of weight and my face looks rounder now… but that’s another story!
