Why I Chose RU Plastic Surgery (with Autologous Rib Cartilage Rhinoplasty)
본문

Why I decided to get rhinoplasty:
Since I was 17, I had been insecure about my low nasal bridge, bulbous tip, and wide nostrils.
I kept postponing surgery because I was afraid of complications and didn’t have the time.
I never expected to have a dramatically high bridge—
I simply wanted some definition from the side,
something closer to a “normal” nose.
More than anything, my biggest wish was to avoid serious side effects.
Why I chose RU Plastic Surgery:
I did extensive research through platforms such as Gangnam Unni, Babitalk, and online reviews.
What mattered most to me was achieving a natural result that didn’t look obviously surgical,
and choosing a clinic with a low risk of complications.
Dr. Hyunjoo Kim stood out because of his emphasis on natural aesthetics
and the thorough way he explained every aspect of the surgery.
Even though I was still anxious during the consultation,
his calm confidence and clear explanation of how complications are managed
helped me trust him with my nose.
Surgical method and materials used:
Nasal tip plasty using autologous rib cartilage,
dorsal augmentation with a silicone implant,
columella extension,
nasolabial angle correction,
and bulbous tip refinement.
How I felt after the surgery:
At first, I was honestly quite worried.
My nose looked very swollen,
and the bridge and width seemed thicker than I had expected.
For a short time, I even regretted the surgery.
However, around the one-month mark,
the swelling began to decrease noticeably.
Now my nose looks much slimmer and more natural,
and I am genuinely happy with the result.
Because my original nose was very low and wide,
the outcome appears relatively elevated,
but it still looks natural and well-balanced with my face.
There is no foreign body sensation at all,
and the shape fits exactly the image I had in mind.
I used to worry a lot about asymmetry—especially the nostrils—
but mine are now very even in both size and shape,
which I honestly did not expect.
The only inconvenience is that when my nose feels congested,
I can’t blow my nose the way I used to,
so I rely on saline spray instead.
If I had to mention one lingering concern,
it would be the width of my nostrils.
They did narrow slightly as the tip was lifted,
but not as much as I had hoped.
Sometimes I wish I had undergone alar base reduction at the same time,
but I’m also too afraid to touch my nose again,
so I’ve decided to live with it.
Lastly, one of the most reassuring parts of this entire process
was the communication.
Whenever I had questions or felt anxious—
especially in the early postoperative period—
I could send a message and always received a quick, reassuring response.
Even minor concerns were taken seriously,
which helped me feel calm and well supported throughout my recovery.
I am truly grateful for that.
