Six-Month Update After Secondary Rhinoplasty with Autologous Rib Cartilage
본문

It has been six months since I underwent revision rhinoplasty
using autologous rib cartilage.
My first rhinoplasty was about six years ago.
At that time, a silicone implant was used for the nasal bridge,
septal cartilage for the nasal tip,
and I also underwent alar base reduction.
However, less than a year later,
my nasal tip began to droop.
The same clinic suggested a touch-up,
and I eventually underwent a revision surgery using Gore-Tex.
As time passed, my nose started to look shorter and more upturned,
with excessive nostril exposure.
I became extremely self-conscious
and developed a habit of keeping my head down
when taking photos or being in public.
When I finally decided to pursue a second revision,
I conducted extensive research and read countless reviews.
That’s when I remembered a friend
who had a beautifully done revision rhinoplasty.
When I asked her where she had it done,
she told me it was performed by Dr. Hyunjoo Kim
at RU Plastic Surgery.
Based on her results,
I scheduled a consultation and decided to proceed with surgery.
Dr. Kim reconstructed both the nasal bridge and tip
using autologous rib cartilage,
and the stability now feels completely different—
there are no signs of sagging or collapse.
I also requested an additional alar reduction,
even though Dr. Kim did not strongly recommend it.
He performed only a very subtle adjustment,
but even that small change made a noticeable difference,
and I am very pleased with the result.
Most importantly,
the extended nasal tip has maintained its height and projection
over the past six months.
The issues I experienced after my previous surgeries—
such as tip drooping and excessive nostril show—
have been effectively resolved.
I am extremely satisfied with how the overall nasal line
and structural stability have improved through this revision.
