Two Weeks After Revision Rhinoplasty Following Complete Implant Removal
본문

Before / 2w post-op
It has been two weeks since my revision rhinoplasty following the complete removal of my previous nasal implants and cartilage.
During my first rhinoplasty, septal cartilage and a silicone implant were used.
However, my nose developed a pinched appearance and the nasal tip became upturned, so I eventually had everything removed.
Even after the complete removal, the pinched appearance did not fully improve.
My nasal bridge also looked lower because the hump had previously been reduced,
and over time, the tip of my nose became increasingly upturned, making my nostrils more visible from the front.
For this revision, I wanted to lower the nasal tip, correct the pinched appearance,
and achieve the most natural-looking result possible. While researching different options,
I came across a YouTube video about rhinoplasty using autologous costal cartilage.
The results looked more natural to me compared with what I had seen elsewhere,
which ultimately led me to choose RU Plastic Surgery for my revision rhinoplasty.
During surgery, Dr. Hyun Joo Kim found inflammation after opening the nasal bridge, so donated dermis was used for the bridge instead.
I am very happy with the current height, and I almost wish the swelling would not go down any further.
I initially wanted my nose to be even higher, but Dr. Kim explained that because there was limited soft-tissue availability,
making it excessively high could increase the risk of the tip becoming upturned again.
I decided not to push for additional height and trusted his surgical judgment.
For this surgery, donated dermis was used for the nasal bridge, while autologous costal cartilage was used for the nasal tip.
The procedure also included correction of my short nose, nasolabial angle adjustment, correction of the pinched appearance, and alar rim lowering.
My nasal tip has come down significantly, and my nose already looks more natural than it did even after the previous complete removal.
Although I am only two weeks post-op and still in the early stages of recovery, I am very satisfied with the result so far.
