2-Month Review of Revision Rhinoplasty Using Autologous Rib Cartilage with Temporalis Fascia DCF Method
본문

Due to complications from a silicone implant, I had to urgently undergo revision rhinoplasty.
Since this was going to be my final surgery, I wanted the most reliable option—autologous rib cartilage.
While researching, I discovered a clinic that specializes exclusively in rib cartilage rhinoplasty.
True to the nickname “Rib Cartilage Master,” Dr. Kim Hyun-joo at RU Plastic Surgery has extensive experience with autologous rib cartilage procedures.
His detailed explanations of the surgical process convinced me to proceed with the revision surgery there.
One of the greatest strengths of RU Plastic Surgery is the thorough and considerate way the surgeon explains everything.
In addition, inquiries before and after surgery were handled very quickly through KakaoTalk, which helped resolve concerns promptly and efficiently.
Unlike a conventional autologous rib cartilage revision,
I underwent the DCF method, in which diced rib cartilage is wrapped in temporalis fascia to reconstruct the nasal bridge.
At first, I was anxious because I had never heard of this technique before,
but after learning that finely diced cartilage wrapped in fascia helps reduce side effects and prevents cartilage visibility,
I felt reassured and decided to proceed.
It has now been two months since the surgery.
The incision beneath my nose is still slightly visible,
and the area below where the silicone-related complications occurred remains mildly indented, which is a bit disappointing.
However, the nasal bridge and overall shape look natural, and I am satisfied with the result.
There is also a remaining scar at the rib cartilage donor site.
Dr. Kim explained that laser scar treatment will be performed after three months,
and until then, I am diligently applying scar ointment.
If you are considering rhinoplasty using autologous rib cartilage,
I highly recommend Dr. Kim Hyun-joo at RU Plastic Surgery.
