1-Month Update After Functional Rhinoplasty
본문

Originally, my nasal tip was not extremely low,
but I disliked the slight hump on my nasal bridge
and the blunt appearance of my nose from the front.
Because of this, I had always considered rhinoplasty.
Recently, I finally found the time to seriously look into surgery.
While browsing plastic surgery forums and Naver reviews—
especially focusing on hump nose correction and revision cases—
I came across a review that showed exactly the nose shape I wanted.
It was a review of RU Plastic Surgery.
I added RU to my shortlist, and during the consultation,
Dr. Kim Hyun-joo clearly explained the surgical plan
and confirmed that the result I was hoping for was achievable.
That reassurance led me to proceed with surgery at RU.
I had been experiencing chronic nasal congestion and rhinitis,
so I also wanted functional improvement.
For that reason, septoplasty and inferior turbinate reduction
were performed at the same time.
In the early postoperative period,
breathing was still somewhat uncomfortable.
When I asked Dr. Kim about this,
he explained that swelling of the nasal mucosa is common initially,
and that breathing can remain difficult for a while
even after functional nasal surgery.
As expected, my breathing has gradually become easier and more comfortable.
Since this was my first rhinoplasty,
a silicone implant was used for dorsal augmentation,
and the nasal tip was reconstructed using autologous rib cartilage.
Osteotomy and hump nose correction were also performed,
and the blunt appearance of my nose from the front
has improved significantly.
There is still some residual swelling at the nasal tip,
and I was informed that it may continue to slim down
over the next several months—up to about six months in total.
Now, at one month post-operation,
I am applying scar ointment to the rib cartilage donor site.
The scar on the columella, however, does not bother me at all.
Overall, I am very satisfied with both the aesthetic
and functional improvements so far.
