I underwent contracted nose reconstruction surgery
with Dr. Hyun Joo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery.
Honestly, from the moment I made the reservation
until the actual day of surgery,
my mind was full of thoughts and worries like,
“When is this day finally going to come?”
And now… somehow, it’s already been a full month
since I had my contracted nose corrected.
I’ve been diligently applying the ointment
that Dr. Kim prescribed to the columella incision,
and it’s healing quite well.
Of course, since this was a revision surgery,
some scar tissue formation is unavoidable.
At my one-month follow-up, I asked Dr. Kim about this
because I was a bit concerned,
and he explained that it is still part of the normal healing process.
He also reassured me that, if necessary,
it can be managed later with laser treatment.
Hearing that was such a relief.
The biggest source of stress for me before surgery
was the asymmetry and the lifted, contracted nasal tip.
Now that both issues have been corrected,
it honestly feels like I’ve finally completed
a huge life assignment.
People around me say that I don’t look like
I had major surgery done at all.
Instead, they tell me I look softer and more elegant,
which makes me incredibly happy.
I’m truly grateful to Dr. Kim.
He used my own autologous rib cartilage
for both the nasal bridge and the tip—
a full rib cartilage revision for my contracted nose.
I also really appreciated the careful support
from the consultation manager throughout the process,
which helped ease my anxiety before and after surgery.
These days, I feel happy every time I take a selfie.
