1-Month Post-Op Review After Autologous Rib Cartilage Nose Surgery with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim
본문

It’s been a month since I had nose surgery using autologous rib cartilage with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim.
I started by watching a lot of male rhinoplasty vlogs on YouTube, and one YouTuber had the exact straight-line nose I wanted.
After digging around in the comments and DMs, I found out he got his surgery with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim, who now runs his own private clinic, RU Plastic Surgery.
To be honest, I was relieved he wasn’t at a large, crowded hospital anymore.
I personally prefer quieter spaces, and the thought of a big clinic bustling with people made me a little hesitant.
So RU’s more private and personal vibe felt like a good fit for me.
My Consultation Experience:
Dr. Kim explained that my skin was elastic and responsive, which meant we could safely add some height to the bridge using autologous rib cartilage for a more defined and prominent look.
However, to create a stronger impression from the front view, he recommended doing an osteotomy (bone narrowing) and bulbous tip correction, since I had a wide nasal base and thicker soft tissue.
So in the end, I had:Autologous rib cartilage graft (for height and tip), Osteotomy (to narrow the bridge), Bulbous tip refinement
Recovery So Far:
In the first week or two, I had some yellowish bruising here and there, but now at 1 month, all bruises are gone.
The incision scar under my nose (from the columella) is surprisingly barely noticeable.
As a guy who doesn’t wear makeup, I was initially worried, but with just sunscreen, it blends in well.
Dr. Kim did mention that the scar could darken slightly after a month, so I’ve been taking good care of it.
Result:
As for the overall shape and nose line—it came out just like I imagined.
The slightly “sharper straight-line profile” I was going for is there, and it still feels natural on my face.
Honestly, I’m really happy with the result so far.
Looking forward to seeing how it settles even more in the coming months!
