It’s been a little over a month since I had my first rhinoplasty with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery, and I wanted to share my honest experience.
For my surgery, silicone was used for the bridge, and autologous rib cartilage was used for the tip.
I’ve always been slightly self-conscious about my nose because of the hump (dorsal hump), wide nasal bones, and bulbous tip.
While doing research, I happened to come across a YouTube vlog about male rhinoplasty.
The result looked a lot like the kind of nose I wanted, and that’s how I found RU Plastic Surgery.
Of course, I also visited several larger clinics for comparison.
Some of the bigger clinics were actually more affordable, but I kept thinking—what if I end up with complications or need revision surgery?
That’s why I ultimately decided to go with a specialized, single-surgeon clinic that focuses on rhinoplasty.
Yes, RU was a bit more expensive, but their aftercare policy is very different.
It’s not just a 1- or 2-year warranty like other places—it’s a lifetime care system.
As long as the issue isn’t completely subjective, they’re willing to take responsibility without a strict time limit.
I also really liked that I got to see Dr. Kim regularly for post-op checkups, which isn’t always possible at larger hospitals.
There, you often don’t get much time with the operating surgeon after surgery.
So I made the decision: I’m going to do it once and do it right—and I chose RU.
Now that I’ve passed the 1-month mark, I’m honestly really happy with the results.
The straight nose line I wanted is there, the bulbous tip is more defined, and the hump is corrected just like I hoped.
In the early stages, I was a bit worried because I have thick skin, and the swelling made my nose look even bigger.
But now the swelling has gone down a lot, and it’s looking way more natural and proportionate.
Of course, it would be nice if I didn’t need more surgery in the future—but if I ever do another procedure, I’d definitely go back to Dr. Hyunjoo Kim.
I’ve already been “promoting” the clinic to friends who are curious about getting their nose done.
