It has now been one month since I underwent revision surgery
for a contracted nose at RU Plastic Surgery.
Before this, I had rhinoplasty using a “FitMe” custom silicone implant,
along with septal cartilage and ear cartilage.
Over time, however, my nose began to twist.
I returned to the same clinic for revision surgery,
and this time rib cartilage was used.
Unfortunately, a few months later, an infection developed,
and both the implant and the cartilage had to be removed.
Even after removal, my nose continued to change shape,
and the symptoms of contracture did not stop.
At that point, I realized that I would never return
to my original nose on my own.
I knew I needed to find a true specialist
in contracted nose revision.
That’s when I remembered Hyunjoo Kim,
who had previously performed my facial contouring surgery
(three areas), and who is also well known
for expertise in contracted nose revision.
I booked a consultation at RU Plastic Surgery,
and we began preparing with stem cell therapy sessions
to help soften the skin and improve elasticity before surgery.
Thanks to this process, my skin condition improved significantly
and became more flexible, which allowed us to proceed
with scheduling the revision surgery.
For the surgical materials, we chose the most conservative approach.
Autologous rib cartilage was used for the nasal tip
and septal reconstruction.
For the nasal bridge, finely diced rib cartilage
wrapped in scalp fascia was used,
serving a role similar to an implant
but using only my own tissue.
Before surgery, my nose looked extremely pinched and tight.
Now, at the one-month mark, it already feels much more comfortable.
The overall shape has become more refined,
and the redness and bruising at the nasal tip
that appeared around the second week
have significantly improved.
Occasionally, when it’s cold or when my condition isn’t great,
the tip still becomes slightly red.
Even then, it’s very mild and easily covered with makeup,
so it hasn’t been a major concern.
I was informed that some redness can persist
for up to six months while the tissues fully stabilize,
so I’m not particularly worried.
Honestly, I would have been satisfied
just to have a normal, problem-free nose again.
But Dr. Kim didn’t just resolve the contracture—
he also created a beautifully balanced shape and line.
He truly is an expert in contracted nose revision,
and I’m deeply grateful for the result.
Now, my focus is simply on being careful
and taking good care of my nose
until everything has completely settled.
