2-Week Review After Revision Rhinoplasty (Autologous Rib Cartilage, Bulbous Nose Correction, Alar Base Reduction, Nasolabial Angle Correction) Surgery at RU Plastic Surgery
본문

I had my first rhinoplasty about 16 years ago.
Over time, the nasal tip began to lift unnaturally,
and the overall shape gradually became more asymmetrical.
My biggest concern, however, was my wide and flared nostrils.
I even tried nostril Botox once,
but honestly, it felt like a complete waste of money—there was no visible improvement at all.
I kept telling myself,
“Someday, I’ll fix this properly,”
and eventually decided it was time to take action.
I began researching rhinoplasty-focused clinics
and visited several highly recommended ones from well-known online forums.
Even after multiple consultations,
I couldn’t get that confident feeling of
“Yes, this is the place.”
I was very torn—I even left a deposit at another clinic—
but something didn’t feel right, and the doubt wouldn’t go away.
Then, through a friend, I heard about RU Plastic Surgery.
To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations when I went in.
I thought, “Why not just check it out?”
In total, I visited five clinics,
and RU was the only place where I was offered a warm cup of tea.
It may sound trivial,
but to me, that small gesture reflected genuine respect for patients.
The consultation process was also different.
The consultation manager first helped organize my concerns,
and then I had a thorough consultation with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim
that lasted nearly 30 minutes.
Every question I had was answered clearly and sincerely.
As someone who tends to overthink,
I truly appreciated the depth and honesty of the explanations.
Yes, RU’s pricing is on the higher side.
But I’ve come to realize that lower cost does not necessarily mean better quality.
The staff were consistently kind,
and Dr. Kim patiently answered every single question
I had written down in my notebook.
When I had my first surgery years ago,
I didn’t even think to ask these kinds of questions.
Now that I’m older,
I had many concerns about post-operative care, inflammation,
and possible complications—
and all of those concerns were addressed in detail.
The overall atmosphere of the clinic felt warm and reassuring.
Now, at two weeks post-op,
the only fleeting thought I’ve had is,
“Should I have gone about 1.5 mm higher?”
But I trust Dr. Kim’s judgment.
What truly fits my facial structure
may not be exactly what I imagined in my head—and that’s okay.
While I’m happy with the overall result,
the most impressive change for me has been the alar base reduction.
It looks completely natural,
yet the improvement is very noticeable.
I honestly caught myself thinking,
“How did he make my nostrils look this refined
while still keeping them so natural?”
Anyone who has watched nostril reduction videos on YouTube
will understand how difficult it is to achieve a good result.
Before surgery, my nasal tip was so upturned
that my nostrils were overly exposed from the side.
Now, the balance is just right—
not overly drooping (which can look heavy),
and not excessively upturned either.
Dr. Kim truly gave me a nose that suits my face,
and I am genuinely grateful for that.
