It has been one month since I underwent male rhinoplasty
using autologous cartilage with Dr. Hyunjoo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery.
Before surgery, I had a slightly upturned “pig nose” appearance,
and my nose was also quite short.
I visited about three clinics that specialize in autologous cartilage rhinoplasty,
but in the end, my decision was based mainly on the consultation with the doctor himself.
At other clinics, most of the consultation time was spent with the consultation manager,
and I only met the surgeon briefly.
At RU Plastic Surgery, however, I was able to spend ample time directly with Dr. Kim.
Maybe it’s just his personal style,
but he was very approachable and easy to talk to, which made me feel comfortable right away.
Since I had almost no knowledge about cosmetic surgery,
he explained everything in a way that matched my level of understanding,
including whether autologous cartilage was truly necessary for my case.
That helped clear up a lot of my concerns.
Because my nose was short and small,
but my nasal bones were relatively wide and spread out,
Dr. Kim explained that an osteotomy would be needed
to create a more refined and well-defined result.
Based on his recommendation, I proceeded with the osteotomy as well.
Due to that, the bruising lasted a bit longer,
but I consistently applied the bruise ointment provided by the clinic
and did warm compresses as instructed.
Even though this was my first rhinoplasty,
I understood why autologous cartilage was necessary in my case,
so I decided to trust the surgical plan.
Now that one month has passed,
the uneven lines caused by swelling have improved significantly,
and my nose has settled into the straight, sharp line I was hoping for.
I’m very satisfied with the result.
At my one-month follow-up,
Dr. Kim carefully checked the incision site where the cartilage was harvested
and suggested scar laser treatment.
He asked whether I could tolerate a bit of stinging,
and I said it would be fine, even if it was slightly uncomfortable.
So I went ahead and received the scar laser treatment on the side incision.
It did sting a little,
but since it’s part of the aftercare program,
I plan to continue taking advantage of it.
During my follow-up visits in weeks one and two,
Dr. Kim personally handled all of the care himself.
He never seemed rushed and carefully checked for even minor discomfort,
almost as if he was actively trying to find anything that might bother me.
His attentiveness and consideration really stood out,
and I genuinely appreciated that level of care.
I feel that if I had chosen another clinic,
I might not have received such thorough postoperative attention.
Lately, when I run into people at school,
they’ve been telling me that my overall impression looks different.
Before, I had a softer, more youthful image,
but now I look more masculine and refined.
It may sound a bit awkward to say this myself,
but if you’re looking for a reliable place for male rhinoplasty,
I can confidently recommend RU Plastic Surgery.
