Two Weeks After Implant-Free Rhinoplasty & Chin Advancement
본문

Before / 2w post-op
I wanted to improve my overall facial appearance because I had a prominent dorsal hump and a retruded chin,
which made my facial features look less defined. I started researching clinics through several plastic surgery apps.
Although I had to postpone my rhinoplasty because of my schedule, I had actually been considering both nose and chin surgery for almost two years.
During that time, I researched many different clinics and also asked friends who had already undergone plastic surgery about their experiences.
One of my main criteria was that I wanted to have both my nose and chin surgeries performed by the same surgeon.
Once I narrowed my search based on that, there were fewer options than I expected, but I still ended up visiting around ten different clinics for consultations.
At each consultation, I wanted to hear the surgeon’s recommended approach before making my decision.
I already knew that I was open to using autologous costal cartilage,
but I told the surgeons that I would rely on their professional judgment regarding whether an implant was necessary,
how much nasal height would suit my face, and how many millimeters my chin should be advanced.
While attending consultations, I found that some clinics gave rather vague answers to my questions or simply told me that they could do whatever I wanted.
That made it difficult for me to feel completely confident in my decision.
My consultation at RU Plastic Surgery felt different.
Dr. Hyun Joo Kim used a detailed presentation to explain the surgical techniques,
why he recommended a particular approach for my case, and even the potential disadvantages of alternative methods.
By the end of the consultation, I felt that this was the clinic I wanted to choose.
I did hesitate a little because of the cost, but even after visiting other clinics, I kept comparing them with RU Plastic Surgery.
I felt that if I chose somewhere else, I might look back months or even years later and regret not having my surgery here.
That ultimately led me to choose RU Plastic Surgery.
For my nose, I underwent implant-free rhinoplasty using autologous costal cartilage,
and for my facial contouring procedure, I underwent chin advancement.
I normally do not swell very much, and fortunately, I experienced very little bruising or swelling after surgery.
The discomfort was somewhat difficult for the first four to five days, but it gradually improved.
When my nasal splint was removed at the one-week mark, my appearance initially felt very unfamiliar.
Since I had lived with a retruded chin my entire life, the change may have looked even more dramatic to me. For a moment,
I worried that my chin looked too prominent and even wondered whether I had made the right decision.
After reading about other patients’ recovery experiences, however,
I learned that it is quite common to feel unfamiliar with your appearance during this early stage of healing, so I decided to give myself more time.
I am now two weeks post-op. Sensation has not completely returned yet,
and there is still some residual swelling, but I can already see a clear improvement in the concerns that originally bothered me,
particularly the less-defined appearance caused by my retruded chin and the prominent hump on my nose. I am very satisfied with the changes so far.
For anyone who is still considering different clinics and, like me, is looking into both rhinoplasty and chin surgery at the same time,
I would definitely recommend considering a consultation with Dr. Hyun Joo Kim at RU Plastic Surgery.
