Two-Month Review: Secondary Rhinoplasty Using Autologous Rib Cartilage My Clinic Selection Criteria
본문
Single-surgeon system (one surgeon performing all procedures)
-
Rib cartilage harvested through an inframammary incision to minimize visible scarring
-
Emphasis on columellar and columella-labial angle volume with a defined straight-to-slightly-curved dorsal line
-
Robust post-operative care and lifetime follow-up support
About 10 years ago, I had my first rhinoplasty using an L-shaped silicone implant, but I was unsatisfied with the aesthetics. While researching options for revision rhinoplasty, I came across Dr. Hyunjoo Kim’s surgical results on Instagram. The before-and-after photos aligned closely with my ideal look, prompting me to schedule a consultation. After speaking with Dr. Kim, I felt that her aesthetic sensibility matched mine, and I decided to book surgery on the same day.
Surgical Experience and Recovery
The recovery process was smoother than expected—minimal bruising and swelling allowed for a relatively fast return to daily activities. My main requests were extension of the columella and overall nasal lengthening, and while I had concerns that this might age my appearance, the result looks youthful and refined.
At the two-month mark, some fibrosis is still present, making the lines slightly less defined than I would like, but I’ve been assured this will improve by the three-month check-up. One unexpected benefit is that the extended columella has made my philtrum appear shorter, giving a subtle lip lift effect.
Dr. Kim continues to provide detailed post-op care through one-on-one check-ins, which makes me feel confident in the long-term outcome.
