1 Week After Contracted Nose Revision Surgery at RU Plastic Surgery

Hi! I’m writing this review exactly one week after undergoing revision surgery
for a short, contracted nose at RU Plastic Surgery.
To give some background,
my first surgery was about four years ago
using ear and septal cartilage,
but unfortunately, it did not improve either the shape
or the projection I was hoping for.
After taking about a one-year break,
I tried again at a fairly well-known clinic
using autologous rib cartilage—
but once again, the result was unsatisfying.
That second failure left me deeply discouraged.
I had spent a significant amount of money,
yet it felt impossible to achieve a result
that even scored 70 out of 100.
I began to wonder if I was simply choosing the wrong surgeons.
Eventually, I grew tired of searching
and tried to live with the outcome as it was.
Then, during a conversation with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while,
we talked about revision surgeries,
and she recommended a surgeon
known for successful rib cartilage revisions.
I reviewed the clinic’s cases and before-and-after photos
and was surprised by how natural and well-corrected the results looked—
even in severe cases.
Since my nose had that same “contracted” appearance,
it felt like the right place for me.
After the initial consultation with the consultation manager,
I met Dr. Hyunjoo Kim, who was incredibly thorough.
Because my skin is thin
and I had already undergone multiple surgeries,
he explained the limitations honestly—
that achieving a very high, dramatic projection
might not be realistic.
However, throughout the consultation,
his mindset, professionalism,
and approach as a physician
convinced me that he was someone I could trust.
That gave me the confidence to proceed with surgery.
Now that one week has passed,
I honestly expected much more swelling,
given the complexity of correcting both a pinched tip
and a short nose.
But to my surprise,
the shape already looks very good,
and the swelling is not excessive at all.
I was advised by Dr. Kim
to continue taping the nasal tip
to help further reduce swelling,
and I am following those instructions carefully.
This time, I feel genuinely hopeful.
I plan to share another update as time goes on,
but so far—everything is going very well.
