3 Weeks After Revision Rhinoplasty for Contracted Nose
본문

I decided to undergo revision rhinoplasty due to complications from a previous surgery at another clinic.
Over time, I began experiencing contracture, saddle nose deformity,
and pinching, which prompted me to seek corrective surgery.
I discovered RU Plastic Surgery through forums and websites,
and after coming across Dr. Hyunjoo Kim’s blog and YouTube channel, I booked a consultation. During the consultation,
Dr. Kim explained that the primary goal of the surgery would be to release the contracted tissue and restore the nose to a natural state.
The procedure was performed using sliced autologous rib cartilage for the nasal dorsum,
rib cartilage for tip reconstruction, and autologous fascia.
Leading up to the surgery, I underwent several sessions of stem cell treatment. Each time I visited the clinic,
Dr. Kim answered all of my questions thoroughly and with genuine patience. Even after surgery,
he checked in on me several times as I was waking up from anesthesia,
explaining the surgical results clearly, which gave me peace of mind.
When I returned to have the nasal packing removed,
he showed me photos from the OR and walked me through exactly what had been done—this level of transparency was extremely reassuring.
There are many clinics with surgeons who lack accountability,
and patients often suffer because of that.
But Dr. Kim’s consistent follow-up and sincere explanations—especially
when I had concerns or uncertainties—made me feel confident that I was in the right hands.
He also provided options for potential refinements down the line,
which further reduced my anxiety post-op.
Most of the previous complications with my nose have been resolved to the point that I no longer even remember
what was wrong before. I finally feel comfortable without a mask.
I'm genuinely grateful. Of course,
it's difficult to achieve 100% satisfaction with revision surgeries,
and there are still some areas that could be improved—but Dr. Kim advised me to wait a little longer and continue monitoring progress.
As for the rib cartilage donor site, I was surprised by how manageable the discomfort was.
I only felt soreness for about three days, with some occasional tightness during heavy activity.
Recovery was quicker than expected, and the scar is barely visible now—just a faint line.
This experience made me realize what a huge difference a responsible and attentive surgeon can make in such a delicate process.
