Six Months After Secondary Rhinoplasty for Short Nose Using Autologous Rib Cartilage
본문

I underwent secondary rhinoplasty six months ago at RU Plastic Surgery with Dr. Hyun Joo Kim.
I initially considered revision because I was dissatisfied with the results of my primary surgery,
which had been performed in Busan several years prior. Over time,
I noticed that my nose appeared increasingly upturned,
and people around me began commenting that it looked shorter or resembled a "piggy nose."
Additionally, my nasal dorsum lacked the height I had originally hoped for.
As someone with a naturally low nasal bridge, I desired a longer and more defined profile.
While browsing social media, I came across rhinoplasty results by Dr. Kim that aligned perfectly with my aesthetic goals.
After researching further and reading numerous positive reviews, I decided to schedule a consultation. During the consultation,
I shared my concerns and was reassured by Dr. Kim's clear surgical plan and expertise, which gave me the confidence to proceed.
On the day of surgery, I was understandably nervous, but the procedure went smoothly.
To my surprise, postoperative discomfort was minimal. Unlike my previous experience,
I did not experience significant nasal pain. The only discomfort was at the rib harvest site.
Nasal swelling has significantly subsided over the past six months,
and my nasal contour appears both natural and aesthetically refined.
For reconstruction, autologous rib cartilage was used for tip support, and a silicone implant was placed along the dorsum.
Due to my thin skin, a thin layer of Megaderm was also applied to prevent implant visibility.
While the nasal tip currently feels firmer than before—likely due to the rib cartilage graft—I understand this will gradually soften over time.
One notable advantage of RU Plastic Surgery has been the postoperative care.
Follow-up visits have been thorough and consistent, and the clinic has provided reassuring support throughout the recovery process.
Now, even the surgical scars—both at the columella and rib site—are barely noticeable.
Between the structural stability, the improved nasal proportions, and the natural enhancement of my midface balance, I am extremely satisfied with the outcome.
If you’re considering revision rhinoplasty due to dissatisfaction with a previous outcome,
I highly recommend consulting with Dr. Kim at RU Plastic Surgery. The surgical precision,
patient-centered care, and long-term follow-up truly set this clinic apart.
