One-Month Review After Revision Rhinoplasty for Contracted Nose

It has been one month since I underwent revision rhinoplasty for a contracted nose.
I originally had rhinoplasty about ten years ago, but around three to four years ago, people around me started asking why my nose looked so lifted.
Until then, I hadn’t realized that my nose shape was gradually changing.
When I compared my old photos to more recent ones, the difference was clear — my nose had become noticeably shorter and my nostrils were much more visible.
That’s when I began researching revision options for contracted nose surgery.
This time, I wanted to avoid large hospitals and instead find a clinic specializing in revision rhinoplasty, particularly for contracted noses.

Dr. Kim recommended using autologous rib cartilage for the nasal tip and combining scalp fascia with rib cartilage for the nasal bridge.
At first, the idea of taking fascia from my scalp was surprising, but Dr. Kim explained that it was the most suitable method for my case,
so I decided to trust her expertise and proceed with surgery.
The day of surgery was tough — it was my first time undergoing general anesthesia, and waking up was quite difficult.
My throat felt sore and dry until I was able to drink water again.
I had forgotten how uncomfortable nasal packing could be after rhinoplasty, but once it was removed the next day, I felt much better.
Dr. Kim checked on me immediately and made sure I was doing fine after removal.
At my one-month follow-up, my nose still looked slightly swollen and broad.
Dr. Kim explained that this is normal and that swelling can fluctuate for up to six months,
and that scar tissue can make the nose look a bit fuller at this stage.
Although I was a bit worried, he reassured me that the area between my eyes (the nasal root) would slim down significantly over time.
Thankfully, my side profile and nasal tip have already improved — my nose looks longer and less upturned,
and the nostril exposure has been reduced noticeably, which I’m very happy about.

I plan to continue careful aftercare to help the swelling subside faster and ensure the best final result.
