Revision Rhinoplasty After Previous Upturned Result – 2–3 Week Post-Op Review
본문

I decided to undergo revision rhinoplasty because my previous surgery had resulted in an upturned, “pig-nose” appearance, which became a constant source of stress.
While researching hospitals known for revision cases, including large clinics, I visited several places with different prices and different surgical plans.
Among them, the consultation at RU Plastic Surgery resonated with me the most, so I chose to proceed with revision surgery there.
To be honest, I really didn’t want to go through another surgery.
Since I live in a different region, the idea of traveling back and forth for what isn’t a complication but rather cosmetic dissatisfaction felt exhausting.
What I appreciated immediately was that Dr. Kim Hyun-joo gave her full attention and conducted the consultation sincerely.
Some clinics made me feel like they were bothered by my questions, so this difference stood out right away.
Instead of saying things like “You’ll definitely look exactly how you want” or “You’ll be 100% satisfied,”
Dr. Kim explained everything from a professional standpoint and even mentioned that
“if the nose style suddenly changes, it may feel unfamiliar at first,”
which helped me mentally prepare.
I found RU Plastic Surgery through an influencer, and during the consultation,
I was recommended Autologous Rib Cartilage and Alar Base Reduction.
Alar reduction was something I was nervous about because of the negative stories online,
and I kept asking about it multiple times, even on the day of surgery.
However, the doctor explained everything clearly, which helped me feel reassured.
Looking back, I’m glad I decided to include alar reduction — it was the right choice.
In terms of pain, the nose itself was mild — around 1 to 2 out of 10.
The rib area was more painful, about 3 to 4 out of 10.
What surprised me was that bruising occurred only around the nose;
there was no bruising or swelling on the eyes, cheeks, or mid-face,
so I was able to go out easily with just a mask.
The improvement I wanted most — the upturned tip — has been corrected,
and the lowered columella gives a much more stable and natural impression.
Other details still need time since I’m only about 2–3 weeks post-op,
and the swelling will need to subside more before I can judge the final shape.
Still, the fact that the upturned look is gone already brings me huge relief,
and I no longer feel uncomfortable looking at photos.
I also felt a lot of trust when my coordinator printed out the photos and notes
I had sent via message and brought them into the operating room.
Honestly, without that, there’s always a chance of forgetting details.
My first surgery failed precisely because there was poor communication
even though I repeatedly said I didn’t want an upturned nose.
Right now, the swelling makes it difficult to say that the nose looks “beautiful,”
but I know this period is naturally like that.
I believe time will resolve the swelling, and I’m looking forward to
how I will look in one month, three months, and even a year from now.
