One-Month Postoperative Review After Columellar Lengthening, Nasolabial Angle Correction, and Alar Reduction at RU Plastic Surgery
본문

Ten years ago, I underwent rhinoplasty using a silicone implant and auricular cartilage.
Over time, noticeable nasal deformities developed,
which led me to decide on revision surgery.
As my skin became thinner,
the step-off of the silicone implant along the nasal bridge became more pronounced.
Because the nasal tip had been supported only by stacked auricular cartilage
without proper columellar support,
the tip gradually drooped,
and I wanted to correct this issue.
Since my first surgery was done simply through a personal introduction,
I took a much more careful approach this time,
thoroughly researching and visiting multiple clinics.
I focused on the surgeon’s experience and aesthetic sense,
postoperative care,
and expertise in autologous rib cartilage surgery.
Based on these criteria, RU Plastic Surgery stood out as the best fit for me.
Because my nose was originally on the larger side,
I clearly expressed that I did not want it to appear larger after surgery.
Dr. Kim Hyun Joo agreed
that my nasal tip did not need to be further elevated.
The plan was to replace the previously short and thin silicone implant
with a slightly thicker one,
remove all existing nasal tip materials,
and reconstruct the columella using rib cartilage
to correct the collapsed and retracted columella.
After some consideration,
I also decided to add alar reduction on the day of surgery.
I was surprised by how quickly the swelling subsided.
After suture removal at one week,
I was able to return to work starting the second postoperative week.
Thanks to Dr. Kim’s meticulous surgical technique,
the scars are healing very well,
and the rib donor site is expected to leave only a faint white line.
The step-off along the nasal bridge now looks smooth and natural.
Most importantly, the drooping nasal tip has been corrected,
and the columella is now naturally well defined,
resulting in exactly the nasal shape I had hoped for.
I am especially satisfied knowing that the reconstruction was done
using safe and structurally sound materials.
I plan to take good care of my nose going forward
and hope to maintain these results for many years to come.
