One-Month Postoperative Review After Short Nose Revision Surgery

It has been one month since I underwent short nose revision surgery
at RU Plastic Surgery.
Despite having had a previous rhinoplasty,
concerns remained regarding a short nasal length,
insufficient height, columellar position, and nostril shape.
I was also interested in functional nasal surgery,
so I searched extensively through postoperative reviews
before learning about RU Plastic Surgery.
I reviewed as many case photos as possible,
and many of the revision rhinoplasty results matched
the nasal aesthetic I was looking for.
The nasal lines were neither overly sharp nor excessively rounded,
and in particular, the columellar correction results stood out to me.
Although I briefly considered other clinics,
I ultimately scheduled a consultation only with RU Plastic Surgery,
as my preference was already leaning strongly in that direction.
At the initial consultation, photographs were taken first,
followed by a discussion with the consultation coordinator.
We reviewed basic medical information and my surgical goals,
after which I proceeded to a consultation with Dr. Kim Hyun Joo.
He reviewed the notes prepared in advance
and explained the surgical plan in detail.
Although some of the intraoperative images were quite graphic,
they were shown as part of a thorough explanation of the procedure,
which ultimately increased my trust in the process.
Dr. Kim then took additional photos using a tablet
and continued the explanation in a way that felt
very attentive to my concerns and expectations.
By the end of the consultation,
most of my questions had already been addressed clearly,
so there was little left for me to ask.
At that point, I decided to proceed with revision surgery at RU Plastic Surgery.
The revision procedure included functional nasal surgery (two components),
along with the use of autologous costal cartilage and silicone.
Immediately after surgery, nasal discomfort was significant,
but after one day, pain at the costal cartilage donor site
became more noticeable, similar to severe muscle soreness with movement.
As nasal pain gradually subsided,
my focus naturally shifted to anticipating the final nasal shape.
Until the splint was removed,
it was difficult to assess the appearance of the nose,
and nasal breathing was limited due to internal sutures
and postoperative congestion.
After approximately two weeks,
once all internal materials were removed,
I clearly noticed an improvement in breathing.
In particular, airflow through the right nostril,
which previously felt restricted,
became noticeably smoother.
While the nasal shape is not exactly what I initially imagined,
it feels well-balanced and appropriate for my facial structure.
The columella and short nose have clearly been corrected,
yet people around me consistently describe the result as natural.
The improvement is subtle and harmonious,
without dramatically altering my overall appearance,
which is something I am very satisfied with at this stage.
